A working Texas farm since the 1930s
Thirty minutes northwest of downtown, down a country road in Aurora, sits a real farm with pumpkins to pick, longhorns to feed, and room for kids to be kids.
Aurora, Texas
Skip the parking-lot pop-ups. Ruby Creek Family Farm sits on land our family homesteaded in the 1930s, tucked between Rhome and Aurora just off Old Base Road. Look for the big red ENTRANCE flag, a little off the beaten path, and so worth it.
Wander the patch and pick from pumpkins of every shape and size, priced honestly from $3 to $15. Then load up on corn stalks and fall décor at the pumpkin hut, and browse the vintage General Store for gifts and keepsakes on the way out.

Why families cross the metroplex
Rated 4.9 stars on Google, Ruby Creek is the pumpkin patch DFW families tell their friends about, then keep a little quiet, so it stays this way. While the big-name patches pack them in shoulder to shoulder, out here your kids get a two-story sand pile, human hamster wheels, catch-and-release fishing, and one-on-one time with miniature goats, donkeys, and our Highland cow.
And only at Ruby Creek: a covered hayride out to hand-feed real Texas longhorns, just $3 a rider.
Bring your camera
The big red barn ringed in pumpkins. The vintage truck. Longhorns in the pasture light. Families drive from all over DFW for these shots, and photographers, we have a session pass for you too.
